Galt Xenokrates in der bisherigen Forschung nur als subalterner Dogmatiker, so wirft diese Arbeit ein neues Licht auf den dritten Akademieleiter. Die Gesamtdarstellung seiner Philosophie enthält neben der Kosmologie, Theologie und Ontologie erstmalig auch seine Prinzipienlehre. Diese findet sich im berühmten Sextus-Bericht, Adv. Math., X §§ 248-283, der auf der Folie der Philosophie des Xenokrates neu gelesen wird. Die darin vorgestellte monistische Prinzipienlehre stammt von Xenokrates, der in seine Berichterstattung über Platons Ungeschriebene Lehre seine eigenen Lehrsätze mit einfließen ließ. Diese (...) Prinzipienlehre stellt das Bindeglied zwischen der Seinsmetaphysik des Aristoteles und der Einheitsmetaphysik Platons dar, da das erste Prinzip, die absolute Monas, nushaft und seinstranszendent ist. Xenokrates erweist sich als platontreuer und innovativer Denker, als 'Fels', auf den Platon seine Lehre und seine Schule gründen konnte. (shrink)

Paul Scheerbart (1863–1915) is rarely referred to as a philosopher. He is known as the author of Glasarchitektur (1914), and of numerous books, essays, and stories of “fantasy” and anti-militarism. As a follower of Berkeley’s skepticism, he proposed an aesthetic of the fantastic, an art program in contrast to current realism and impressionism. Studying technical and scientific progress, he developed alternative ideas, in a unique blend of fiction and science. His “astro-” or “cosmopsychology” is a variant of ancient panpsychism or, (...) as Jan Assmann calls it, cosmotheism, which was suppressed by the “Mosaic distinction,” the introduction of true and false in things religious. Exponents of this dualism are the supporters of the “Great chain of being” (Lovejoy): Plato, Nicholas of Cusa, and Kant in his refutation of hylozoism. The late Kant, however, comes close to Scheerbart in calling planet Earth an “organic,” though not “living” body. Fechner and, after him, Scheerbart overcome such hesitation. In Lovelock’s Gaia hypothesis, scrutinized by Bruno Latour, the old intuition of a non-dualistic eco-holism takes on its actual form. (shrink)

Aristoteteles already knew apart from the deduction and the induction the concept he named himself, the abduction. However, he did not consider it conclusive, and therefore neglected it. That was also the reason for him to attribute a merely inductive method to Socrates who would search for general ethic terms. Due to C. S. Peirce's accomplishment, abduction was rediscovered and was able to realize its full logical potential. According to his theory, only abduction makes creative thinking possible. This essay tries (...) to apply abduction to Charmides ' Platon for the very first time. It proves, that in core scenes during the dialogue surprising proposals are made, which lead with the application of the abduction and with the aim of answering the what-is-what-question to new definitions and general terms. It's about working out the affinity between the abduction, like Peirce demands, and the socratic method in search for general terms. (shrink)

"Evropa" je eden od motivov, ki jih je Derrida v svojih spisih najbolj kontinuirano obravnaval. V Mémoire se je ukvarjal s Husserlovim Dunajskim predavanjem iz leta 1935, k temu besedilu pa se je zopet vrnil v Voyous iz leta 2003. Pričujoči esej spremlja Derridajevo pot skozi pol stoletja in skozi različne faze: od obravnave Husserlovega prezrtja izvorov krize, evrocentrizma transcendentalne teleologije, mistifikacije monogenealogije, do opredelitev možnosti in nalog Evrope kot cap, kritike Kantovih pojmov kozmopolitizma in gostoljubja in avto-imunizacije uma. Pregled (...) se začenja z Moshosovo inačico zgodbe o posilstvu Evrope, na koncu pa vpelje referenco na skoraj neznanega nemškega filozofa Friedlanderja/Mynono , katerega Kantovsko videnje sveta pomeni vzporednico Derridajevemu alter-mondialisme.“Europe“ is one of the most continuous motives in Derrida’s writings. In his Mémoire from 1953/54, he interrogates Husserl’s Vienna lecture from 1935, and in Voyous he once again comes back to this text. The essay follows Derrida’s path through fifty years and through its different phases: Husserl’s neglect of the origins of crisis, the Eurocentrism of transcendental teleology, the mystification of monogenealogy, the possibilities and tasks of Europe as a cap, the critique of the Kantian concepts of cosmopolitism and hospitality , the auto-immunization of reason itself. The survey begins with the story of the rape of Europe in Moschos’ version, and it ends with a reference to Friedlaender/Mynona , rather unknown German philosopher, whose Kantian world vision parallels Derrida’s alter-mondialisme. L’article présente un projet d’édition des OEuvres complètes du philosophe et satiriste allemand Salomo Friedlaender Mynona , entrepris en 2005. Partant de Schopenhauer, Nietzsche, Goethe, Kant et Ernst Marcuse, le philosophe a développé les raisons fondamentales de « l’indifférence créatrice » et d’une polarité spécifique non romantique vers une étude philosophique approfondie. Installé à Berlin à partir de 1902, Friedlaender se trouvait au coeur des courants philosophiques et littéraires du XXe siècle – l’expressionnisme et le dadaïsme. Pacifiste déterminé et kantien (...) à l’heure de la Première guerre mondiale et de la République de Weimar, il a formulé dans ses satires populaires, les grotesques, une critique sévère de la culture en attirant l’attention, avec insistance, sur l’utopie pratique de la paix éternelle. En raison des circonstances difficiles – émigration à Paris en 1933 – et d’un malheureux hasard, il est tombé dans l’oubli. Grâce à cette nouvelle édition, dans le cadre de laquelle devraient paraître trente volumes dans les années à venir, il sera présenté au public à sa juste valeur. (shrink)

The paper presents the project, begun in 2005, of publication of the Collected Works of Salomo Friedlaender / Mynona , a German philosopher and satirist. Starting from Schopenhauer, Nietzsche, Goethe, Kant, and Ernst Marcus, Friedlaender developed the basic motives of „creative indifference” and the specific polarity into an original and penetrating philosophy. Living in Berlin from 1902, he was at the center of significant philosophical and literary developments of the 20th century . He was a determined pacifist and Kantian whose (...) popular satires , during the Frist World War and the Weimar Republic, formulated a severe critique of culture and convincingly suggested that the utopia of eternal peace was practical. Due to unvaforable circumstances and cruel fate he had undeservedly sunk into fatal oblivion. This edition, which will include 30 volumes over several years, finally shows him the way he deserves. Im Ausgang von Schopenhauer und Nietzsche, Goethe, Kant und Ernst Marcus entwickelte er die Grundmotive der ,schöpferischen Indifferenz’ und eines spezifischen Polarismus zu einer originalen und tiefen philosophischen Lehre. Seit 1902 in Berlin lebend, stand er im Zentrum maßgebender philosophischer und literarischer Entwicklungen des 20. Jahrhunderts ; er war ein entschiedener Pazifist und Kantianer, der zur Zeit des Ersten Weltkrieges und der (...) Weimarer Republik auch in seinen populären Satiren scharfe Kulturkritik formulierte und nachdrücklich auf die praktische Utopie des ewigen Friedens hinwies. Durch widrige Umstände und böse Zufälle geriet er unverdienterweise in eine fatale Vergessenheit. Mit dieser Edition, deren etwa 30 Bände in den nächsten Jahren erscheinen sollen, wird er endlich in das Licht gebracht, das ihm gebührt. (shrink)

Karsten M. Thiel interpretiert die Genealogie der Moral neu. Er rückt Nietzsches Kritik an der Geschichtsschreibung ins Zentrum der Betrachtung und nimmt so seiner Moralkritik alles Schrille, das ihr gewöhnlich anhaftet. Für Nietzsche muss die Geschichtsschreibung über einen belastbaren Begriff von Vergangenheit verfügen. Doch wie konnte es zu einer Geschichtsschreibung ohne einen solchen Begriff überhaupt kommen? Quantum philosophy, a peculiar twentieth-century malady, is responsible for most of the conceptual muddle plaguing the foundations of quantum physics. When this philosophy is eschewed, one naturally arrives at Bohmian mechanics, which is what emerges from Schrodinger's equation for a nonrelativistic system of particles when we merely insist that 'particles' means particles. While distinctly non-Newtonian, Bohmian mechanics is a fully deterministic theory of particles in motion, a motion choreographed by the wave function. Bohmian Mechanics was formulated in 1952 by David Bohm as a complete theory of quantum phenomena based on a particle picture. It was promoted some decades later by John S. Bell, who, intrigued by the manifestly nonlocal structure of the theory, was led to his famous Bell's inequalities. Experimental tests of the inequalities verified that nature is indeed nonlocal. Bohmian mechanics has since then prospered as the straightforward completion of quantum mechanics. This book provides a systematic introduction to Bohmian mechanics (...) and to the mathematical abstractions of quantum mechanics, which range from the self-adjointness of the Schrödinger operator to scattering theory.
