Firefox 3.6.3

As of around midnight GMT, no ticks were appearing in boxes on this page, though I definitely had had some of them selected as sources (and have been receiving e-mail alerts based on this list for a while). Re-entering the selection and saving seems to have been functional, though; I thought I'd better report it in case other accounts had lost data.

Speaking of that list, I suspect [Journal (Paginated)] (near the bottom, in the non-alphabetically-ordered section) is an error of some sort.

Also, when I went to http://philpapers.org/bbs/threads.pl?fId=8 and clicked 'Start a new discussion' to make this thread, I was taken to a forum list on http://philpapers.org/bbs/pick_forum.html which doesn't include the forums for discussion of PhilPapers. I had to work out the correct URL to post a thread to Bug Reports. Indeed, Bug Reports is also missing from the right-hand column with the list of forums.

What did you see that was wrong? If there was an error message with an explanation, what was it?

The viewings on some (all?) of my entries aren't updating... after I posted my critical notice of Metametaphysics the viewings updated at a rate of about 10/day, then after the third day have stayed at 32, even after a test downloading yesterday.

Uh, my profile lists 37695 works, most if not all of which have nothing to do with me.

My browser is Safari 5.31 (Mac OS X) (but the problem also shows up on Firefox).

My page displays "Ooops, couldn't load query." instead of my work. Could you please fix this or tell me what's wrong? Thanks!

Best wishes, Martin

No  phrase so vividly captures the Husserl-Heidegger debate than "the  battle of giants".Unfortunately the battle has its murkier side that sometimes threatens to reduce its protagonists to a state

of caricature. What it takes to a highly talented, original thinker disciple to shrink from an evocative state of scholarly indebtedness to a grudging sense of complain for his guru.Passions

erupt, sentiment overflows and what not.Clearly the Husserl-Heidegger controversy is the century's most pathetic instance of failure of human communication.

The way PP deals with the order of authors is rather difficult to manage.  The order of the authors in edit mode isn't always what will show up in the listed item on PP.  It would be really nice if this was fixed since sometimes people use author order to indicate who worked on the project more, etc.

Here are some details:  Sometimes when I go to add another author, that author becomes the first author in the listing, even though the added author in edit mode is listed last.  And then things work differently when I just try to rearrange authors that are already listed.  How I arrange them in edit mode isn't always how they show up in the listing.  Furthermore, I have to copy and paste authors' first and last names to switch the order around.  A drag system would be nice.  But the most important thing is to make sure there is a clear way to change the order (even if it has to be copy and paste); the order in edit mode should always match the order in the listing.

I'm not sure of what to put f ... (read more)

There are at least two unpublished papers of mine that I would like to post here. I keep trying; but am just caught in a circle. Are my papers being rejected? Am I doing something wrong?

Hello,

Immediately after executing an advanced search the green "to read" markers appear for the papers that I have marked, but about 5 seconds after the page has loaded they disappear.

Thanks,

I denote intentional objects by placing them between less than and greater then signs as the mention of words is denoted by quotation marks. Reading my posted text, I found out that the text so marked does not appear. Perhaps this has something to so with the use of these signs to denote HTML commands. While my notation is my own, the same signs are used in inequalities, for example in discussing probabilistic arguments, and in quantum theory to denote bra and ket vectors. Thus, the inability to display this kind of text can cause problems in many discussions.

No error message.

My browser is Firefox 3.5 (WinXP)

I tried to edit the description of a forthcoming article, to reflect a change in title and other changes.
I could change the text.  However, there was no "Accept changes" button to install them.  Closing
the edit box left the entry unchanged.

Did a google on my name looking for something else and found my Profile page directly accessible from google, without being logged into philpapers.
Is this by design, or is it because there is a missing directive to stop searchbots from caching those webpages?

Cheers,

Don.

I can't seem to get my reading list sorted by publication year. It defaults to first author, I select publication year, nothing happens for about half a minute and then the box shows first author again.

I was trying to attach descriptors to a newly added review of mine, but was prevented by crashes and a message saying that I was probably using Safari (I'm not; I'm using Chrome!).

I just signed up for PhilPapers, since I've just finished my MA in Phil. and am applying for Ph.D. study.

On the profile area, the 'My Works' section is listing a lot of books and papers written by a different Thomas Morris - this man in particular: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_V._Morris

I have no published works at the moment. Is there any way of making it so that another person's work doesn't end up on my profile? I'm not sure how one would solve this problem - maybe by allowing a more precise name specification, or maybe by using the topics one works in for better matching - so someone who says they work in metaphysics doesn't end up with a load of existentialist papers.

Call it narcissism, but I check the number of downloads on my paper "Justification and the Right to Believe".  It had gotten up to 47 over the course of the last few months, but today it says "no downloads".  I know it's not a big deal, but if you could restore it, I would be grateful.
