  1. Physical uniformities on the state space of nonrelativisitic quantum mechanics.Reinhard Werner - 1983 - Foundations of Physics 13 (8):859-881.
    Uniformities describing the distinguishability of states and of observables are discussed in the context of general statistical theories and are shown to be related to distinguished subspaces of continuous observables and states, respectively. The usual formalism of quantum mechanics contains no such physical uniformity for states. Using recently developed tools of quantum harmonic analysis, a natural one-to-one correspondence between continuous subspaces of nonrelativistic quantum and classical mechanics is established, thus exhibiting a close interrelation between physical uniformities for quantum states and (...)

  • On the foundations of the physical probability concept.Alois Hartkämper & Heinz-Jürgen Schmidt - 1983 - Foundations of Physics 13 (7):655-672.
    An exact formulation of the frequency interpretation of probability is proposed on the basis of G. Ludwig's concept of physical theories. Starting from a short outline of this concept, a formal definition of weak approximate reduction is developed, which covers the reduction of probability to frequency as a special case.

  • Individual samples, preparations, and states in Piron's approach to quantum physics.Gianpiero Cattaneo, Tiziana Marsico & Giuseppe NisticÒ - 1994 - Foundations of Physics 24 (9):1293-1303.
    The mathematical description of the three distinct fundamental notions of “individual sample” of “preparing procedure,” and of “Piron's state” of a physical entity are precisely introduced in the framework of the Piron's “preparation-question structure” (without specific axioms C, P, A) based on Ludwig's “selection structure.” We compare our realization of the above notions with a similar use of the standard terminology of the “Geneva School” adopted by Pykacz and Santos in a recent paper.
