  1. Business Ethics Index: Measuring Consumer Sentiments Toward Business Ethical Practices.John Tsalikis & Bruce Seaton - 2006 - Journal of Business Ethics 64 (4):317-326.
The present study describes the development of an ongoing and systematic index to measure consumers’ sentiments towards business ethical practices. The Business Ethics Index (BEI) is based on the well established measurements of consumer sentiments, namely the ICS (Index of Consumer Sentiment) and CBCCI (Conference Board Consumer Confidence Index). The BEI is comprised of 4 measurements representing the dimensions of “personal-vicarious” and “past-future.” Data from 503 telephone interviews were used to calculate a BEI of 107. • Decision-Making Processes on Ethical Issues: The Impact of a Social Contract Perspective.William T. Ross Jr - 1995 - Business Ethics Quarterly 5 (2):213-240.
Abstract:This paper develops a framework for examining decision making about ethical issues and tests the applicability of a social contract perspective. Using two separate samples of students and salespeople, we determine that community members (salespeople) tend to judge a potentially unethical act to constitute a violation of an implicit social contract and non-community members (students) do not. Also, consistent with the emphasis on context specificity of integrative social contracts theory, situational variables influence perceptions of ethicality for the community members, but (...)

  • How ethical are purchasing management professionals?Robert Landeros & Richard E. Plank - 1996 - Journal of Business Ethics 15 (7):789 - 803.
The primary purpose of this study was to assess the ethics of purchasing management professionals. A multidimensional scale of ethics was used to measure their predispositions to act morally. The ethics measure from this scale was correlated to a series of ethical vignettes specific to the purchasing function to further assess the value of the scale. In addition, the consistency of values as rationale for decision making was also examined. The findings of the study indicate that purchasing professionals appear to (...)

The aim of this paper is to highlight how business schools can improve the ethical behaviour of future managers. A range of scales were used to evaluate the ethical stance and psychological characteristics of a group of UK business students. The results indicate (...)
