Abstract

The central question which I want to take up here is this: Is it possible to identify an internal relation between language and ethics, between the language we speak and the object of ethical inquiry? This is the fundamental issue that I want to address. But my question needs to be formulated even more specifically, and I’d like to put it in the following terms: Could it be that the hope of a rational justificaton of ethics will be fulfilled with the help of a proper philosophical conception of language?
