Abstract

This 2013 Consortium of Universities for Global Health essay examines the challenges, personal cost, and ethical dilemmas of working as a medical officer at a district hospital in South Africa and confronting health issues such as HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and childhood sexual abuse.
