Nutrition against Disease. By Roger J. Williams. New York: Pitman Publishing Corp., 1971. Pp. 301. $7.50. This book is about the prevention and treatment of some diseases by control of nutrition. The author criticizes medical educators for inadequate attention to newer knowledge of nutrition and to individual differences in requirements of the essential food factors. Individual chapters concern die role of nutrition in birth defects, cardiovascular disease, dental disease, ardiritis, aging, mental diseases, alcoholism, etc. This is a lucid book which can be read by laymen as well as students and physicians. Not all authorities in the field will agree with all that the author says about nutritional bases of health but die author, a distinguished scientist in the field, presents good arguments that many physicians and food industries need updated knowledge of nutrition.
