Abstract

The spread of sociobiology in Chinais not simply an internal event in thedevelopment of science. From the day it wasintroduced to China, its destiny was closelybound up with the development and change ofChinese society. Although it did not create asgreat a disturbance as in America, it did have a significant impact in academiccircles. However, scholars have paid littleattention to these historical events. Today, sociobiology seems outdated and Wilson's grandagenda seems to have faded with the passing oftime, but the mark that he made on the historyof science is still striking. A review of theprocess of reception of sociobiology in Chinais helpful for understanding this theory aswell as the society of China.
