I joined the Philosophy Department at the University of Colorado Boulder in 2005 and I work mainly in theoretical ethics. I also have interests in the philosophy of mind (in particular, the nature of pleasure and pain), metaphysics, and the philosophy of religion. Most of my research has been on the topic of well-being, or of what things are of ultimate benefit and harm to us, and on various topics in metaethics.
