Abstract
One can find in the scholastic tradition, at least from Duns Scot to the XVIIth century some analyses concerning 1) the definition of the integer, 2) the definition of the continuity, 3) the definition of the Infinite, 4) the distinction between different sorts of Infinite, ideas which, directly or indirectly, might in the XIXth century have inspired Bolzano, Dedekind and Cantor.
