Online research in philosophy

This is the first book devoted to the work of Ernest Sosa, one of the most influential contemporary epistemologists. In it, a group of distinguished philosophers critically assess Sosa's contribution to debates on virtue epistemology, foundationalism, externalism, and metaphysics. The volume also includes Sosa's own reply to his critics, in which he clarifies and develops the central themes of his philosophy. (publisher, edited).

In his paper ‘Changing the Theory of Theory Change: Reply to My Critics’, N. Tennant (1997b) reacts to the critical reception of an earlier article of his. The present note rectifies some of the most serious misrepresentations in Tennant's reply.

In this essay I offer a detailed reply to three critics (whose commentaries are included in this issue of Philosophia ) of my Forgiveness: a Philosophical Exploration (Cambridge: Cambridge University Press, 2007). The topics explored include the nature and limits of forgiveness; its unconditional or conditional character; the problem of distinguishing between central and marginal cases; the analysis of political apology; and questions of philosophical methodology.

My reply to my critics in this issue deal with the following issues: God and time, James’ will-to-believe, the free will defense, and the cognitivity of mystical experiences.
