|Abstract||Abstract This paper reviews the literature on the moral judgement and development of moral behaviour of mentally retarded individuals. The relative contribution of mental age, chronological age, cognitive functioning, social experience and environmental factors to the moral characteristics of this population is discussed. Relevant studies are described in the light of both the perspectives of cognitive development and of social learning|
