Nothing beyond the able mother? A queer-crip perspective on notions of the reproductive subject in German feminist bioethics
| Abstract | Since the 1990s in Germany, bioethics has established itself as the primary location for the discussion and debate of social and political questions concerning new reproductive technologies (NRTs), and has become the site for decisions about their juridical regulation. As a component of academic bioethical discourses, governmental commissions, and bioethics centers, all of which produce discourses about NRTs, feminist bioethics in Germany contributes to this political knowledge about NRTs (Kalender 2008, 56; Herrmann 2009, 173–88; Krones 2005, 28).1 In what follows, I argue that German feminist bioethics reflects many, if not most, of the neo-eugenic developments that characterize more recognizably mainstream .. | |||||||||
