Abstract

This is a collection of philosophical essays published over the past five years. Most are quite brief, the longer essays appear toward the close of each of the major divisions of the book and are intended to develop in more detail the points made in the briefer essays. Their aim is practical rather than theoretical. ‘They are concerned with the bearing of what we believe and what we do on the over-all quality of our lives’.
