|Abstract||In the UN Millennium Declaration of the year 2000, the 191 member states of the UN committed themselves to the goal “to halve, by the year 2015, the proportion of the world’s people whose income is less than one dollar a day and the proportion of people who suffer from hunger.” This is the first and most prominent of altogether eight UN Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) as listed on the UN website.1..|
