|Abstract||This is a partial record of correspondence with an intelligent journalist who was given the task, some time in 1998, of preparing an article on pride, as part of a series of articles on so-called 'seven deadly sins' for a scientific magazine. The journalist first asked me to explain how pride could be accommodated withing the framework of ideas being developed in the Cognition and Affect Project at the University of Birmingham.|
