Abstract

/// After briefly recalling the destinies and the avatars of the theme "Reason and Revelation", from Lessing to Hegel, culminating in mutual transparence in the most consequent expression of German Idealism, the author reflects on the philosophical meaning of revelation on the basis of a recent Castelli Colloquium in Rome: there is a prejudice in favor of reason against theological realities, an exaltation and reenforcement made of reason in detriment to mystery. It is precisely the infathomable character of mystery, that must be preserved. It is particularly the role of Christian philosophy to enphasize reason or intelligence while safeguarding the supernatural (e. g., G. Marcel and especially Blondel).
