The Task of the Teacher and the Notion of Responsibility: a Moral and a Sociological Issue
Journal of Moral Education 7 (2):114-121 (1978)
| Abstract | Abstract The article suggests that the teacher's professional responsibility is both a moral and a social concept but that it has been little examined. It is suggested that the concept has suffered from too narrow an interpretation under role theories. One source of philosophical ideas (from Richard Niebuhr) for re?interpreting and broadening the concept of responsibility is examined. Finally a proposal is made for a new use of the concept particularly associated with a positive assumption of responsibility by the professional teacher | |||||||||
