What determines the constitution and limits of the church? Vatican II speaks in favor of a concentric understanding of ecclesial communion, using terms such as «fully incorporated», by «explicit intention», not «in unity of communion», «incomplete», «defective», and «in various ways». The three bonds which unite people to the Church are the profession of faith, the sacraments which express that faith, and the ecclesiastical government and communion that are at its service , keeping in mind that all human beings are (...) related implicitly to the Church . And so we can speak of «various ways» of belonging to the Church: full, partial, close, implicit and peripheral, but always understood in reference to the full communion in the Church. (shrink)

The article starts with the Catholic and ecumenical reception of the invitation of Ut Unum Sint to establish a fraternal and patient dialogue in order to «find a way of exercising the primacy, which, while in no way renouncing what is essential to its mission, is nonetheless open to a new situation» . It concludes with the proposal of ordo communionis primatus, the order of communion of primacy, where one would more formally distinguish between «habitual and daily» exercise of primacy (...) and the extraordinary and ultimate Petrine ministry in the Church. The hope is this «new situation» may provide a complete realisation of the ardent prayer of Jesus, which indeed is the title of the encyclical Ut Unum Sint, «that all may be one». (shrink)

What is the Word of God ? It is God Himself in His being for us, «in search of our Salvation», as distinct from the means of communicating this care, such as Scripture . The word of God is defined as «Scripture united with Tradition» , pointing out that it is with the latter, in its relation to the Church and its Magisterium, that is found the greatest theological gap. The Word of God can refer to the «sacramental presence" of (...) Christ: in its «exterior sign» , which is the Scripture as book and text; in its «interior sign» , which is Scripture as an «inspired» Book interpreted in the Church; and in its «ultimate reality» , which is the «truth for our salvation» , the final end of the Word of God. This article develops a theory of border subjectivity that considers the cybernetic role of narrative structures and mediation in political advocacy aimed at dreamers and DACA recipients. "Cybersujetos” are border subjects who are racialized by cybernetic systems and media narratives, but can resist control by repurposing cultural technologies. In assessing the limitations of journalism, literature, and film as outlets for political advocacy, this article finds that remediated representations of undocumented youth that attempt to expand their political agency can further alienate (...) them. Outdated stereotypes in representation are substituted with a proliferation of diverse but still racialized figures meant to demarcate "exceptional" candidates for naturalization, thus failing to challenge the normative parameters of citizenship itself and the militarized position of the US on the global stage. Millions of people in the developing world lack access to curative drugs. Pogge identifies the cause of this problem as a lack of redistribution across borders. In contrast, this article shows that institutional shortcomings within developing countries are the main issue. These different explanations are the result of diverging analytic approaches to ethics: a cosmopolitan approach versus an ordonomic approach. This article compares both approaches with regard to how they conceptualize and propose to solve the problem of providing life-saving pharmaceuticals (...) to the poor in developing countries. El objetivo del estudio es poner de relieve el sentido y alcance que atribuye Max Scheler a su formulación: "La persona es un valor por sí misma". Pues bien, en primer lugar, emerge a la superficie que Scheler adjudica una doble dimensión a esa formulación: personal, una; social, otra, en la más estrecha interacción: denominada por él mismo "persona total". En segundo lugar, el valor personal está de tal manera uncido al amor, que gravita sobre él. Porque es su condición (...) de posibilidad, su sostén y el término de su plenitud personal. Más aún, el amor scheleriano - naturalmente, del primer Scheler - es eminentemente solidario. Y en tal grado que es clave de bóveda de la edificación de su fenomenología de cariz axiológico, sin solución de continuidad con su "metaantropología". A ese respecto, la autocrítica procede como el correctivo inexcusable en la hermenéutica de dicha formulación scheleriana de la persona. (shrink)

In einem grundlegenden Aufsatz, der hier in deutscher Ubersetzung zusammen mit dem englischen Original abgedruckt wird, leisten Bruni und Sugden einen innovativen Beitrag zur interdisziplinaren Verstandigung zwischen Philosophie und Okonomik. Ausgangspunkt ist der Befund, dass tugendethische Ansatze oft ausgesprochen marktkritisch sind, weil sie durch den Markt eine Erosion sozialer Normen und intrinsischer Motivation befurchten. Bruni und Sugden kritisieren die traditionelle Tugendethik dahingehend, dass diese den Markt an sachfremden Idealen messe und dadurch in eine wirtschaftsfremde und sogar wirtschaftsfeindliche Schieflage gerate. Der (...) Gegenansatz von Bruni und Sugden bestimmt den Markt als Praxis mit einem eigenstandigen Ziel (telos). Dieses besteht in der wechselseitigen Vorteilsgewahrung zwischen Tauschpartnern. Von hier ausgehend, identifizieren sie (ohne Anspruch auf Vollstandigkeit) acht Tugenden, die der Praxis des Marktes forderlich sind. Hierin sehen Bruni und Sugden einen Beitrag, die Menschen, die sich als moralische Subjekte verstehen, mit einem wichtigen Bereich ihrer alltaglichen Lebenspraxis zu versohnen. Dieser Band leitet dazu an, sich mit den Thesen von Bruni und Sugden intensiv und kritisch auseinanderzusetzen. Methodische Handreichungen erleichtern die Textanalyse. ABSTRACT:Neuroethics, the study of the cognitive and neural mechanisms underlying ethical decision-making, is a growing field of study. In this review, we identify and discuss four themes emerging from neuroethics research. First, ethical decision-making appears to be distinct from other types of decision-making processes. Second, ethical decision-making entails more than just conscious reasoning. Third, emotion plays a critical role in ethical decision-making, at least under certain circumstances. Lastly, normative approaches to morality have distinct, underlying neural mechanisms. Mediante la discusión de un artículo del musicólogo Carlos Villanueva, tomado como paradigma de un determinado tipo de discurso, problematizamos la noción de interpretación histórica para confrontar al historicismo sonoro no una lúcida crítica presentista sino un enfoque actualista capaz de contraponerse con solidez filosófica y artística a las prácticas museísticas del historicismo musicológico típicamente basado en una pretensión de objetivismo sonoro supuestamente respaldada por las disciplinas historiográficas. Esta expansión hermenéuticamente actualista, tanto de la noción de autenticidad como de fidelidad (...) a la intención del compositor, fundamentaría prácticas interpretativas que acercasen mejor el repertorio histórico al oyente actual sin el lastre del canon estético típicamente imperante en las salas de concierto. Porque, ¿y si mediante un enfoque actualizador novedoso la labor interpretativa del repertorio histórico musical lograse comunicar mejor a la idiosincrasia social actual las grandes obras del pasado sin renunciar a un rigor de adecuación estilística ni traicionar, o incluso preservando mejor aún, la intención del compositor?
