The paper discusses Thomas Reid's objection to David Hume's theory of personal identity. The hypothesis states that this criticism is not effective because it is based on a misunderstanding of Hume’s theory, namely, that Hume would have admitted a negative ontological thesis - the inexistence of a mind beyond perceptions - and a positive ontological thesis - a mind reduced to a bundle of perceptions. En este artículo se sostiene que la “Doctrina transcendental del método” es un texto en el que Kant examina las condiciones formales de la metafísica. En esa sección, el filósofo no ofrece indicaciones metodológicas referidas a la Crítica de la razón pura, que es una propedéutica, sino al sistema de conocimientos por razón pura. En segundo término, por medio del seguimiento de una de las indicaciones de la “Doctrina transcendental del método”, se muestra que, si bien esas indicaciones no están (...) dirigidas a especificar la metodología crítica, el desarrollo del texto kantiano es consecuente con ellas.
