  1. The Intimate and the Stranger: Approaching the “Muslim Question” Through the Eyes of Female Converts to Islam.Geraldine Mossiere - 2016 - Critical Research on Religion 4 (1):90-108.
Drawing on an ethnography among Quebecois and French female new Muslims, I consider how converts epitomize and embody the “encounter” between Muslim and western societies. By choosing Islam, converts position themselves on the margins, giving them a unique perspective on the “West.” My participants’ reflexive narratives hinge on continuity/disruption dialectics that dissolve the commonly held dichotomy between Sameness and Otherness. In analyzing these narratives, I view subjectivity as a rhetorical construction and elaborate upon converts’ daily intimate encounters and dialogues with (...)

The article I am going to propose is a reflection on the theme of recognition in working and social contexts, and focuses on problems and troubles people cope with in this historical moment. This is a period during which reciprocity and recognition relationships involving our education and work career seem to have no more value, because the world of work now focuses on involving people in production and does not care about involved subjects' life plans. • Une Juste Reconnaissance. La Place du Juridique Dans L’Articulation de la “Petite Éthique”.Guido Gorgoni - 2020 - Études Ricoeuriennes / Ricoeur Studies 11 (1):144-159.
This essay critically examines the place that the reference holds relative to law, and more broadly to the legal phenomenon, in the final phase of Ricœur’s reflection on the capable subject. References to the law and more in general to the legal sphere play an increasingly relevant role in the later reflections of Ricœur, in particular in articulating its “little ethics.” This is done, by contrast, through a deep reconfiguration of some fundamental legal categories, in particular that of legal subject (...)

  • De la Lutte Pour la Reconnaissance au Don de Soi. Patočka Et Ricœur Lecteurs de Hegel.Chiara Pesaresi - 2017 - Meta: Research in Hermeneutics, Phenomenology, and Practical Philosophy 9 (2):484-506.
In this paper we will highlight the Hegelian heritage in Patočka and Ricœur’s thoughts. This heritage is particularly clear in their ideas of gift of self and of community bonding. The critical resumption of Hegel leads the two philosophers to discover some forms of recognition that overtake the struggle to the death, i.e. the two figures of the gift of self: the ceremonial gift and the authentic sacrifice. Patočka and Ricœur compare to Hegel also on the political thought. On one (...)
