  1. Caledonian Detachment Deformation and Deposition in the Fuling Gas Field of the Southeastern Sichuan Basin in China: Implications for the Lower Silurian Longmaxi Shale Gas Exploration and Production.Dengliang Gao, Taizhong Duan, Zhiguo Wang & Xiaofei Shang - 2018 - Interpretation: SEG 6 (4):SN119-SN132.
The Fuling gas field in the southeastern Sichuan Basin is the first and the largest shale gas play in China that has been producing primarily from the organic-rich shale in the Upper Ordovician Wufeng Formation and the Lower Silurian Longmaxi Formation. Newly processed 3D seismic data along with well-completion data in the gas field reveal important structural, depositional, and reservoir details in the Lower Paleozoic sedimentary section. Lateral variations in time structure and bed curvature demonstrate the diversity in faults that (...)

  • 3D Structural-Orientation Vector Guided Autotracking for Weak Seismic Reflections: A New Tool for Shale Reservoir Visualization and Interpretation.Haibin Di, Dengliang Gao & Ghassan AlRegib - 2018 - Interpretation: SEG 6 (4):SN47-SN56.
Recognizing and tracking weak reflections, which are characterized by low amplitude, low signal-to-noise ratio, and low degree of lateral continuity, is a long-time issue in 3D seismic interpretation and reservoir characterization. The problem is particularly acute with unconventional, fractured shale reservoirs, in which the impedance contrast is low and/or reservoir beds are below the tuning thickness. To improve the performance of interpreting weak reflections associated with shale reservoirs, we have developed a new workflow for weak-reflection tracking guided by a robust (...)
