The present article analyzes and compares the idea of divine revelation to justify religious beliefs from the viewpoints of Paul Moser and Mulla Sadra. Moser suggests a kind of moral transformation experience that includes direct cognition and internal experience of self-revelation and God’s unselfish love while he considers mere theoretical reason to be inefficient and emphasizes God’s authority and His attributes and goals as well as the axis of divine revelation. Knowledge-by-presence and direct experience of God in Mulla Sadra’s philosophy (...) which is the only way to access true recognition of God is close to divine revelation. The present article shows that, considering the relationship between love and salvation, and knowledge-by-presence and the practical intellect, in Sadrian belief in God, Moser’s approach is close to Mulla Sadra’s even though the method of argumentation of these two philosophers in representing this type of cognition is not completely the same. Considering the commonalities and differences between Moser and Mulla Sadra in justifying belief in God, it seems possible to revise Moser’s approach with a Sadrian reading with a combination of innate nature arguments and self-knowledge. مقاله حاضر دیدگاه موزر را درباره توجیه خداباوری به تصویر می کشد. وی با انکار کارامدی عقل نظری محض در ارائه قرینه‌ای بر وجود خداوند، ضمن تأکید بر مرجعیت خداوند در توجیه و با رویکردی اخلاقی، نوعی معرفت ارادی را پیشنهاد می کند. او راهبرد مطلوب به معرفت راستین خداوند را قرینه‌ای بی‌واسطه و هدفمند می‌داند که نحوۀ دستیابی به آن باید متناسب و در راستای صفات الهی و اهداف برآمده از آنها باشد. خداوند به منظور رستگاری انسان، پیش و (...) بیش از دخالت افکار و عواطف، خواستار تحول اخلاقی و ارادی او از خودخواهی به عشق کامل و ناخودخواهانه است. موزر بر این اساس قرینه‌گرایی فیض‌محوری را مطرح می‌کند که در آن انسان می‌تواند در ضمیر خود دعوت خدا به دوستی با عشق کامل را بپذیرد، و در نتیجه موهبتی خدادادی و تحول‌بخش را در مرکز ارادی و انگیزشی خود تجربه کند. تجربۀ مذکور خودآشکارگی خداوند و قرینه‌ای بی‌واسطه و غیراستدلالی است، که در پی آن فرد با دریافت صفات اخلاقی و عشق کامل خداوند و نمایان ساختن آن بر دیگران، خود «قرینۀ تجسم‌بخشی خداوند» می‌شود. افزون بر آن، موزر با شیوۀ «استنتاج بهترین تبیین موجود» و بر مبنای قرینۀ تجربی و غیرگزاره‌ای مذکور، استدلالی را نیز برای معقولیت معرفتی باور به خدا تنظیم می‌کند. بدین ترتیب، دیدگاه موزر رهیافتی وجودی و اخلاقی بنا می‌نهد که با وجود نقدهایی همچون شخصی بودن، نسبی بودن و عدم حجیت تجربه‌های دینی، مبانی مغفول‌مانده‌ای را در حوزۀ خداشناسی احیا می‌کند. The present paper depicts Moser’s view on the justification of the belief in God. By debunking the efficiency of mere theoretical reason in proving the existence of God, introducing God as the source of justification, and using a moral perspective, he proposes a kind of voluntary knowledge. He assumes the right path to acquire true knowledge of god to be a direct and purposeful evidence, which is found in accordance to divine attributes. For their own redemption, before the interference of (...) thought and feelings, God wills the voluntary moral revolution of human beings from selfishness to selfless absolute love. In this respect, Moser puts forth a virtue-based evidentialism, on the basis of which people can accept God’s invitation to friendship with absolute love and therefore experience God’s blessing in their motivational core. This experience indicates God’s self-manifestation and offers direct evidence for his existence, which causes the subject, by gaining moral attributes and receiving God’s absolute love and sharing it with others, to become a personified evidence of God himself. Moreover, according to the inference to the best explanation, Moser justifies the belief in God by this empirical and non-propositional evidence. As a result, Moser’s existential and moral account, despite being criticized for its being subjective and relative, and the unreliability of religious experiences, has revived a number of forgotten theological concepts.
