Abstract

There is a New Story going about that once upon a time Plato had a theory of particulars which made quite redundant his theory of Forms. Moreover, the story goes, this explains much about the two major directions ancient Greek philosophy took concerning the hoary problem of universals. I believe the story is wrong. I know it is important. © 1988, Australasian Association of Philosophy. All rights reserved.
