This paper considers the utility of scenario learning as tool for managers to prepare for alternative possible futures in the social environment. The technique of scenario learning is explained and its usefulness is demonstrated by working through an example of scenario learning in the automotive industry, focussing on the environmental phenomenon of global warming.
