O futuro da filosofia

No passado, a filosofia, tal como foi trazida à vida originalmente pelos antigos gregos, baseava-se na audaciosa premissa de que o cosmos é inteligível, que a razão humana pode vir a compreender a realidade, pelo menos em parte. No início e meados do século XX, no entanto, a filosofia foi declarada morta em ambos os lados da divisão analítico-continental, então parece apropriado perguntar se a filosofia tem futuro e, em caso afirmativo, que tipo de futuro esse poderia e deveria ser. Neste ensaio, primeiro olho para as reivindicações da morte da filosofia e seu meio filosófico, com foco em Martin Heidegger, Bertrand Russell e Ludwig Wittgenstein. Em seguida, sugiro uma razão para a terrível previsão, a saber, as consequências do que foi chamado de “Segunda Guerra dos Trinta Anos”, e respondo às objeções que podem ser levantadas contra essa explicação. Finalmente, indico o tipo de futuro que penso que devemos vislumbrar para a filosofia.
