Abstract
Schedule-induced drinking was studied with four white rats reinforced with dry food pellets at fixed 1-min intervals in 5-h experimental sessions. When drinking was permitted for only 5 min/h, draught durations were longer and more frequent than in matched periods in sessions when water was always available. Rates of eating were approximately equal under both conditions.
