Transcendental-Pragmatic Foundation of Ethics. Transcendental Arguments and Ethics

From the book Transcendental Arguments in Moral Theory

  • Wolfgang Kuhlmann

Abstract

The transcendental-pragmatic version of discourse-ethics (Apel 1973, 1988, 2001; Böhler 1985, 2013; Kuhlmann 1985, 2007) is centered around its transcendental philosophical foundation, i. e. a transcendental argument. In the following paper this foundation is firstly presented cursory in contradistinction to the classical Kantian proceeding, it is then developed more precisely and in detail and finally it is defended against some objections especially concerning the relationship between transcendental philosophy and ethics.
