Abstract

LOPEZ GOMEZ, Catalina. The role of imagination in the search for the properly human: A necessary link between sense and understanding. discus.filos [online]. 2013, vol.14, n.22, pp.161-174. ISSN 0124-6127.

This paper tries to examine the role played by imagination in the research about the properly human in accordance with the ethical-biological Aristotelian approach. Aiming to this purpose, I reconstruct the arguments that establish a linkage between sensation, imagination, memory, learning, reminiscence and deliberation, and thus, I suggest that what distinguishes Human beings from other animals cannot be understood without starting from those traits that are strictly biological.

Keywords : Aristotle; biology; imagination; properly human.
