Cet enseignement riche et substantiel, en plus de façonner une figure du prêtre, a eu de véritables conséquences sur la formation des prêtres, l’exercice de leur ministère et la théologie du presbytérat. Il est aujourd’hui peu connu et pas toujours reçu. Sa relecture nous permet de retrouver les grandes intuitions du concile Vatican II: le prêtre inséré dans l’Église, conçue comme unique peuple sacerdotal, que sa nature missionnaire invite à penser dans sa relation au monde. Fidèle à cette perspective fondamentale, Vatican II pose la question du presbytérat à partir du ministère des prêtres: annonce prophétique de l’Évangile, célébration des sacrements du salut et présidence à l’édification de l’Église. La spiritualité des prêtres est en ce sens étroitement rattachée à leur ministère. The «Year for Priests» is the opportunity to revisit the teaching of Vatican II on the presbyteral ministry. This deep and substantial teaching, in addition to fashioning the figure of the priest has had real consequences on the training of priests, the practice of their ministry and the theology of the presbyterate. Nowadays it is little known and has still not been received. A rereading of it allows us to rediscover the major intuitions of the Second Vatican Council: the priest is inserted in the Church – understood as the unique priestly people – the missionary nature of which is an invitation to rethink its relationship to the world. Faithful to this fundamental perspective, Vatican II poses the question of the presbyterate in terms of the ministry of priests: prophetically announcing the Gospel, celebrating the sacraments of salvation and presiding at the building up of the Church. The spirituality of priests is in this sense closely attached to their ministry. |
