초록

이 연구에서는 도덕과 교육의 교과 역량인 도덕적 공동체 의식의 작동 방식을 사회 정체성이라는 개념을 토대로 설명하고자 하였다. 사회 정체성이란 소속된 집단을 토대로 자신을 정의하는 것을 의미한다. 사회 정체성의 형성은 내집단의 발전에 기여하는 행동을 산출하기도 하지만, 외집단을 차별하는 기제로 작동하기도 한다. 이러한 측면에서 볼 때 사회 정체성은 도덕적 공동체 의식의 두 가지 측면, 즉 ‘안정적 소속’과 ‘다양성 수용’에 상이한 함의를 갖는다. 이에 본 논문에서는 안정적인 소속을 위해 사회 정체성의 다중 정체성 측면을 강조하고, 다양성 수용을 위해 인류 성원으로서의 사회적 범주화에 초점을 맞추어야 한다고 주장하였다. 그리고 소속과 다양성이라는 두 측면을 반영하여 도덕적 공동체 의식의 정의 방식을 소폭 수정할 것을 제안하였다.
