Celebration !

With this issue, Philosophy of Management completes its 20th volume. That calls for a celebration, and I am thrilled to announce that we are making arrangements for a return of the residential conference in Oxford next July where we will toast to this occasion. Save the date: 1–4 July 2022.

Whilst I am very proud to celebrate this moment as the editor-in-chief of the journal, I also thought it would be useful to take stock of how the journal has tried to shape the field of Philosophy of Management over the past two decades. I teamed up with Dr Hakan Erkal to carry out an analysis of the first 20 years of the journal’s content. You can find the results further on in this journal in an open access article.

Hakan and I used the analysis to put together a first virtual special issue of this journal, last September. Virtual special issues consist of a small selection of papers from the journal’s archive, curated around a theme, and made open access for a couple of months. If you would like to curate a virtual special issue, please do get in touch.

The executive editors of the journal – Cristine Neesham, David Wilson, Eva Tsahuridu, Marian Eabrasu and Vincent Blok – as well as the journal’s founder – Nigel Laurie – insisted that this celebration would also be an homage to Paul Griseri. When I took over as editor-in-chief from Paul in 2017, Philosophy of Management was in a good place, it had a great team in its editorial board, and Paul had landed the journal onto a steady ship – Springer. I have been lucky that even as an editor-in-chief, I was able to rely on Paul’s advice and wisdom.

Paul recently indicated he wanted some more distance from the journal, in order to have more time to play music. One does not argue with the muses, but I did ring up Paul during COVID-lockdown to interview him about Philosophy of Management. You can also read that interview further on in this journal. From all of us, thank you Paul !
