Good grief!  You probably told me, but I’d forgotten that Putnam wrote that guff about an “evil scientist” and a brain in a vat. Long time since I’ve read any of him, but I gave him credit for more sense.

As for the rest, let me be clear. When I said “Of course, I understand what's being said” I meant I understood the words – the Hollywood scenario being described. Philosophically, I think it is pure, unadulterated, juvenile nonsense. Every bit as vacuous as the Dennett twaddle I’ve just drawn your attention to.
