Abstract

This essay explores the relationship between socialism and utopia. It is especially referred to the projection of the Renaissance’s utopian ideas on the times , as they were developed in their new doctrines by Saint-Simon, Fourier and Owen - and also includes the Marxist doctrine, which was presented by its authors as a scientifi c theory and as opposed to those of their predecessors, which they were dismissively ranked as ‘utopian socialism.’
