Abstract

[ES] En el mundo de hoy todo ocurre velozmente. Esa velocidad da lugar al deseo colectivo de imprimir a nuestros actos un ritmo creciente y, a la vez, un fondo inevitable de desasosiego. Grandes clásicos de la cultura occidental, desde Michel de Montaigne hasta Italo Calvino, han reflexionado sobre los efectos nocivos que esa velocidad provoca en nuestras sociedades, en la percepción de las cosas del mundo e incluso de nosotros mismos. Este trabajo reúne sus opiniones. Del examen de las mismas se desprende una conclusión: hay que optar por la lentitud. En la lentitud está el modo privilegiado de relacionarnos con los otros, de garantizar la continuidad de nuestra existencia y de preservar el mundo en las mejores condiciones. [EN] In today’s world everything happens fast. That speed gives rise to the collective desire to impress our acts with an increasing and faster pace, and, at the same time, to an inevitable background of unease. Great classics of Western culture, from Michel de Montaigne to Italo Calvino, have reflected on the harmful effects that speed causes in our societies, in the perception of the things of the world and even in ourselves. This writing collects their opinions. From the examination of these a conclusion is clear: we must choose slowness. In slowness we find the privileged way of relating with others, to ensure the continuity of our existence and to preserve the world in the best conditions.
