Abstract

Cet article présente l'apport des sciences cognitives à l'évaluation des systèmes de recherche d'information. Correspondant à une ouverture par rapport au paradigme «système» de l'évaluation, l'approche cognitive présente néanmoins des limites à la fois théoriques et méthodologiques qui sont présentées dans la première partie. Dans la deuxième partie, une extension de l'approche cognitive, qualifiée d'approche holistique, est présentée à travers quatre modèles qui illustrent le fait que l'enjeu n'est pas seulement de comprendre le comportement des usagers afin d'améliorer la performance des SRI mais consiste à offrir un modèle plus général expliquant l'interaction entre l'usager et l'information.This article addresses the benefits of the cognitive viewpoint for the evaluation of information retrieval systems. Cognitive sciences gave new opportunities regarding the restriction of the "match paradigm" but they have certain methodological and theoriterical limitations which are presented in the first part of this article. In the second part, an extension of the cognitive viewpoint, named the holistic approach, is presented using four exemples. This approach brings out a new challenge - not just to improve the systems' performances but to give an overall understanding model of the interaction between the user and the information process
