Abstract

Este artigo parte do pressuposto não-cético de que há conhecimento moral A questão que se coloca então é de que modo talconhecimento é possível, ou, mais exatamente, como as crenças morais sãojustificadas. A hipótese do artigo é que o intuicionismo moral fornece umaboa resposta para tal questão, desde que se entenda o intuicionismo comouma epistemologia moral comprometida com os seguintes pontos – aexistência de crenças morais básicas, fundacionais, não implica que não hajanecessidade de reflexão prévia; por outro lado, não há a necessidade depostular um órgão ou faculdade especial de intuição moral; as crenças moraisbásicas podem ocorrer em três níveis distintos de generalização; e crençasmorais básicas não precisam ser infalíveis.This paper has a non-skeptical presupposition that there is moral knowledge. The question then is how this knowledge ispossible, or more exactly, how the moral beliefs are justified. Our hypothesisis that moral intuitionism provides a good answer for that question, inasmuchas we understand intuitionism as a moral epistemology commited to thefollowing points – the existence of foundational moral beliefs does not implythat there is no need of previous reflection; on the other hand there is nonecessity of postulating a special organ or faculty for moral intuitions;foundational moral beliefs can occur in three different levels of generalization;and foundational moral beliefs do not need to be infallible
