The Twenty-sixth Congress of the CPSU, which defined the main directions to be taken in the building of communism in the 1980s, gave much attention to problems of further improvement of the socialist way of life and to intensifying the socialization of the people in internationalism and patriotism. the deep analysis of the achievements, problems, and prospects for strengthening the material and intellectual foundations of the socialist way of life contained in the Report of the Central Committee of the CPSU to the congress, delivered by Leonid Il'ich Brezhnev, enriches scientific notions of the essence and the ways of shaping and consolidating the new historical form of human existence
