Abstract

THE DEFINITION OF DEATH is one of the most recalcitrant problems of modern medicine for it seems difficult to say what can be regarded as the ultimate limit, the indubitable criterion, for the end of human life. Philosophers seem to be in a similar quandary whenever someone proclaims the death of philosophy. The death-knell that has been sounded vigorously for traditional epistemology-centered philosophy by Richard Rorty has profoundly disturbed philosophers of all proveniences, and has made him one of the most discussed authors in recent years.
