Abstract

More than thirty years ago, Richard Rorty published Consequences of Pragmatism. There, and in other writings, Rorty challenged the centrality and even the necessity of “experience”, a notion that had played such an important role in the work of pragmatists such as Charles S. Peirce, William James, and John Dewey.
