Abstract
This seminar will provide a brief overview of virtue epistemology and it will consider some possible ramifications of the discipline, for education. Some of the differences between epistemology and virtue epistemology as well as the main features of five different manifestations of virtue epistemology will be explained. The educational implications of the developments in virtue epistemology will be explored with a particular focus on two: It will first be argued that Aristotle’s scheme of intellectual virtues may provide valuable insight into how worthwhile theoretical, moral and technical qualities may be fostered in the young. It will secondly be claimed that it might also be valuable to characterize the professional knowledge of teachers in virtue epistemological terms
