On the Hunan Literati's Classical Chinese Prose and Their Enterprises during the Xiangfeng and Tongzhi Period

Abstract

Ham Lake Xiangshi the same period of the classical theory and practice of people has very important significance. Zeng Xiangxiang created to send the text is based in Hunan inherent "Charm" and "moral principles" based on two literary traditions, but also on the Hunan region's unique geography and customs. Hunan scholars Utilitarian view the world in the sense of political consciousness, and Chen Yi Hunan classical spirit of independence had a tremendous impact. It is important and significant for the literati in Hunan to write classical Chinese prose practically and theoretically during Xiangfeng and Tongzhi period. The Xiangxiang School created by Zeng Guofan originated from the base of the native literature tradition of Hunan and its special geography and customs. The Hunan literati had heaven and political consciousness and independent spirits that gave heavy influence on their classical Chinese prose
