Abstract

I discuss Rivka Feldhay’s thesis about the legitimization of Galileanscience. Its core is the view that the “new science” depends on the reordering of the cultural field characteristic of Renaissance and Jesuitic science. Feldhay urges us to take this transformation as the reason of appearance of “new ways of writing science and new scientific practices”. I try to show that this thesis omits relevant textual references and that the reason of this is Feldhay’s own categories of analysis.
