Abstract

The iron rings of the totalitarian logic symbolize the systematic organization of loneliness, the loss of a space of appearance for the singularities and of the possibilities of turning the world into a common and shared space. They represent, moreover, the death factories, which were concentration camps all throughout the XX Century. The purpose of this paper is showing that through the present and consumer society totalitarian logic still remains, and that it gains its strength by imposing “totalitarianizing” axioms which pretend to establish themselves as foundations of the reality we inhabit and of the social processes, that take place herein. The concepts of thinking and action, that Hannah Arendt comprehends along with the one of plurality, within the context of an ontology of natality can help to identify, understand and defeat the totalitarian logics, which have as main objective to homogenize reality and to replace action with mere behaviour. Thus, following Arendt’s approach, a critical attitude within the paths of thinking and particularly of philosophy can be maintained.
