Abstract

ExcerptIGiven that law is a profession that consists almost entirely in the manipulation of language, and given that, for most lawyers, the profession consists even more in the manipulation of the written than of the spoken word, it is perhaps surprising that, at least in the German-speaking world, lawyers have a decidedly mixed, tending toward bad, reputation as prose stylists.
