Abstract

In 1933, Heidegger reiterates the conviction that Plato explained in The State and The Laws, and expressed in the Seventh Letter: the possibility of a philosophical government. Looking at the philosopher’s elucidation of Plato’s political writings during the 1933 and 1933/1934 lecture courses, the author accents a key note of Platonism that conditions Heidegger’s political commitment as illustrated by the Rectorial Address
