Abstract

This is a handy paper-back volume which is one of a series of collections of critical essays on eminent figures in the history of philosophy. The editor, Alasdair MacIntyre, now of Boston University, has not been noted for any special interest in Hegel before this time and the essay by him in this book called “Hegel on Faces and Skulls” does not suggest that we could expect from him the kind of full-blown interest in productive interpretation of Hegel that we find in another British thinker, J. N. Findlay, whose intellectual background was similarly in the analytic tradition.
