Abstract

World Philosophy Day at UNESCO has been celebrated every year since 2002. The purpose is to renew the international commitment to philosophy, and to foster philosophical analysis and studies of major contemporary issues. It also underlines the importance of the universalization of philosophy teaching for future generations. This volume contains a report by the director-general on an intersectoral strategy on philosophy, the full text of the Paris Declaration for Philosophy, and a report by Patrice Vermeren titled "The Philosophical Roots of UNESCO"
