Abstract
The present article describes a study, based on the analysis of conversations, of the verbal interactions between carers and profoundly multiply-disabled young people. The aim of the study is to show how the phenomenon of repetitive speech acts which is necessarily distributed on the interlocutory level generates or facilitates the process of mutual understanding. The results show that the repetition functions as a dialogical process whose intersubjective dynamics contributes to the construction and the successful achievement of the conversational exchange. We discuss these results in comparison with verbal interactions between adults and children with typical development.RésuméL’article a pour objet l’analyse des interactions verbales entre des adolescents polyhandicapés et des adultes ayant soins.
