Deleuze and Guattari's work has today become ubiquitous in the humanities and social sciences, being regularly drawn on by a vast array of subjects. This book, a sequel to the first volume of Deleuze's Philosophical Lineage (2009), presents studies of 16 key figures drawn on by Deleuze, ranging from Lucretius to Schelling through to Foucault. Each chapter introduces the work of the thinker in question, explains the context in which Deleuze draws on this work and discusses the contribution that it makes to the development of Deleuze's own ideas. This thesis argues that key aspects of Deleuze's philosophy can be explained by looking closely at his relationship to Leibniz. By confining itself to the particular context and set of terminology which Leibniz's philosophy provides, it hopes to avoid many of the dangers of a more general, and necessarily abstract, interpretation or reconstruction of Deleuze's philosophy.
